201 N5 District Governor Derek Margerison has completed the annual DG visit to Norfolk Island.
The Island sports two active Lions Clubs, Arthur’s Vale and Norfolk Island Clubs.

During his visit Derek was entertained by the Clubs at a Meet and Greet at the Lions Club House followed by Arthur’s Vale’s Housie.

He also visited the Norfolk Island Central School. After addressing the School Assembly he presented the school with copies of the 2016/17 and 2017/18 Peace Poster winning entries and an Appreciation Certificate for participation in last year’s competition. The Arthur’s Vale Club plans to reactivate the school’s Leos Club.

Derek declined to indicate the winner of the annual barefoot bowls challenge other to say the sun was in my eyes.

At a fish fry dinner he inducted two new Lions into the Norfolk Island Club, Helen Brakin and Richard Kirkwood.

He attended a breakfast meeting with the Arthur’s Vale Club and later assisted with the sale of the Club’s raffle tickets in the local shopping centre. Derek inducted three new Lions – Steve Marino, Jan Williams and Phyllis Proles – at the Club’s 31st Anniversary Dinner.

His visit included a meeting with the Island’s Administrator, Nick Hutchinson and farewell meeting at the Lions’ Club House.

Derek’s final activity on the Island was a breakfast meeting with the Norfolk Island Club. During the meeting he presented a 50 year chevron to Dan Yager and a Club Excellence award to the Club.At the conclusion of his visit DG Derek thanked the Clubs for their hospitality and friendship. He expressed delight with the induction of five new Lions with interest shown by a number of Islanders.
