Lions Youth Exchange Program – we need your help!

For over 50 years Lions Youth Exchange has been giving young people the opportunity to visit other countries on exchange. Over the years we have welcomed thousands of students to our country and many young Australians have benefited from the unique opportunity to experience firsthand a new culture and lifestyle.

The program is an experience of a lifetime for the young people who travel overseas as well as those in the local community hosting. From having an exchange student stay in your home, to spending a day with an overseas visitor showing them around your community, there are a range of ways you, your local Lions Club, family and friends can get involved.

Lions has exchange students arriving from Europe and North America on 30th June and we urgently need accommodation for 35 students!

The students require accommodation for 3 weeks however this could be shared between different homes. Remember, it doesn’t have to be one person or families hosting for the entire 3 weeks. Perhaps you can’t host but would like to get involved? Please put a call out to your networks and see if you know someone who can.  We encourage local clubs and communities to take on an exchange student together and all get involved!

If we can’t find accommodation for these 35 students, we will unfortunately have to cancel their exchange which would be disappointing both for the students and for us here in Australia who will miss out on this wonderful cultural experience.

If you, your local Lions Club or someone in the community is available to either host a student or two in their home or would like to get involved please contact Gae Bergin today on 0419 403 302.

If all clubs could put a call out to their members, local communities and on social media it would be greatly appreciated. We have included a suggested social media post below.

Thank you for your support.
