Peninsula Senior Citizens Toy Repair Group Inc.

Web site:

The Peninsula Senior Citizens Toy Repair Group Inc. commenced on 19th November 1975  at Narrabeen. Our workshop is now situated on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, at 169a Mona Vale Rd. Ingleside, which is near Mona Vale.

We are a group of retired senior citizens, about 33 in number, who meet once a week, to repair toys and to enjoy our friendship; we enjoy morning tea, and celebrate birthdays. The toys are gathered from council cleanups, from boxes in the local libraries and from donations of local people.

The toys are brought to our work shed, where they are cleaned, mended (if needs be) and then stored until our Distribution Days, which we have 4 a year. Our members are made up of men and women, from all walks of life.   The average age of members is 73+, we have retired engineers, carpenters, painters, bank managers, pilots, secretaries etc all our members can turn their hands to anything.

We have about 60 registered Charities on our books; Charities such as Anglicare, Youth off the Street, Far West Children’s Homes, Sunnyfield, Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Aboriginal Communities, Natural Disasters, as well as local community based groups, we also send toys to Cambodia and to many disaster areas. We are a not for profit organize, and receive funding from local RSL Clubs, Councils and donations.

Our workshed site has been purchased by developers and so our future is very uncertain. It would be a great shame if our service had to be discontinued, and many children would lose access to good quality preloved toys.
